Series Review : Epix Original: War Of the Worlds PLUS UPDATE

Okay darklings. It's 2021 and series 2 is out on Epix. I currently do not have Epix - HOWEVER, I might have to get it once all of the episodes of this series are on there, just because I feel like NOW that my 2020 apathy has come to an end, I feel like I need to see this through. In the meantime, here is the review for series 1 I couldn't be bothered with posting last year because ya know 2020 happened and well - you get it. Howard Overman's vision for the Epix remake of  War Of The Worlds in a series format was interesting.  Honestly though I'm still not sure if I really liked it or not. I mean I LOVE Gabriel Byrne (and no, not just because he's a fellow Irishman, he's a truly gifted character actor), but I'm not very fond of ANYTHING one of the actresses in the series stars in as she always has this smarmy look on her face with a voice I find grating, so that could be part of the reason I am torn about War of The Worlds. ANYWAY.... I'll get off this to

Interview: Ted Nicolaou

Greetings misanthropic minions, it's another day of living through the pandemic. So, I thought I'd be nice and entertain you all. There was a lot going on at the lair for the last couple of years that interfered greatly with my posts. Thing's have finally cleared up for the most part, well, except for the current global situation. I thought that as long as the earth hasn't split open, and swallowed me whole I should start things back up. Beginning with a couple of interviews I did, and didn't get posted. It's an audio interview so make sure you have your sound on. I'm NOT a video editor nor do I wish to be, so don't be too hard on me. The first of these is an interview with horror legend Ted Nicolaou. It was very cool to talk to him. I'm a big Subspecies fan so it was extra - special to me. Be safe minions and I hope you enjoy the interview!

The A - Zed of Things : Friday the 13th Movie Franchise

I know what you're thinking: "Lili, you've only done 'A' - this is an 'F'." I'm fully aware of this, minions. However, Friday the 13th (the day) doesn't come around all that often, so one must be flexible when these things arise. Besides, there was going to be an F eventually anyway! The movie franchise of Friday the 13th is remarkable. Not because the movies themselves are some of the best movies ever made, but because of the pop cultural inroads it helped to create for the horror genre - specifically for slasher films. The franchise alone has 12 total movies, a score of comics, novellas, video games, too much merchandise to even list and there were even a couple of documentaries made about it. Not bad for a franchise based on a movie that started its life as a bloodier, more violent "roller coaster ride" than the Halloween franchise it was trying to take on. The franchise also led to the creation of many copycat, cheesy, over-the-
