Featured Movie & Review : Big Trouble in Little China

I wanted to continue with my homage to the incredible John Carpenter with my thoughts on his film Big Trouble In Little China. It was a tough call considering he has quite a few brilliant, and memorable movies. However, there's time enough to cover those and who knows I might just do that this month. I guess you'll just have to wait and see darklings. In the mean time I'm giving a never before 5 out of 5 Zombie Claws to John Carpenter's unique classic Big Trouble In Little China. Read on to find out why!

In the realm of 80s action-packed comedies, one film stands out for its over-the-top action, flamboyant characters, and unique blend of humor and fantasy: Big Trouble in Little China. Directed by John Carpenter and released in 1986, this cult classic has gained a devoted following over the years. Let's dive deeper into the world of Big Trouble in Little China and explore its incredible cast, fascinating storyline, and some fun facts along the way.

Big Trouble in Little China follows the story of Jack Burton, played by Kurt Russell, a rambunctious truck driver who finds himself pulled into a mystical battle in San Francisco's Chinatown. When Burton's friend's fiancée is kidnapped by a powerful sorcerer named Lo Pan, played by James Hong, he teams up with a group of unlikely allies to rescue her. These allies include Dennis Dun as Wang Chi, a loyal friend and martial arts expert, and Kim Cattrall as Gracie Law, a savvy lawyer and reporter.

The film takes viewers on a wild ride through a world of Chinese mysticism, martial arts, and supernatural forces. Packed with intense fight scenes, magical creatures, and memorable one-liners, such as this one - "Just remember what ol’ Jack Burton does when the earth quakes, and the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven shake. Yeah, Jack Burton just looks that big ol’ storm right square in the eye and he says, “Give me your best shot, pal. I can take it." Big Trouble in Little China combines elements of comedy, action, and fantasy in a way that only John Carpenter can deliver.

Our famous Legendary cast includes:

- Kim Cattrall as Gracie Law: Cattrall brings her charm and wit to the role of Gracie, adding depth to the film's female lead.

- Dennis Dun as Wang Chi: Dun's portrayal of the skilled martial artist and Burton's loyal ally adds a layer of authenticity to the film's action sequences.

- James Hong as Lo Pan: Hong's effortless portrayal of the ancient sorcerer Lo Pan, with his distinct voice and commanding presence, makes him an unforgettable antagonist.
